Costa Rica Fishing

Costa Rican fishing, especially around Puerto Jimenez, is widely recognized as some of the best in the world, and for good reason. Not only is the Golfo Dulce especially deep, but also there is an upswelling caused by Pacific Ocean waters coming into the Gulf, causing higher levels of baitfish. As any fisherman knows, baitfish usually mean big fish, and most of those fish can be caught around Puerto Jimenez all year round. Such illustrious fishing just wouldn’t be complete without Osa Yacht Club’s beautiful, air-conditioned boats to get you to the best fishing spots quickly, comfortably, and in style. Enjoy all that a first-class trip has to offer while catching the kind of colossal fish that most people can only dream about.

Inshore Fishing

Osa Yacht Club offers the best of both worlds with inshore and offshore fishing. For our inshore fishing trips, Osa Yacht Club takes one of our fast, fun, and luxurious fishing boats out onto the Golfo Dulce into spots that we’ve found to be exceptionally abundant with the biggest, baddest fish around. Some of the fish you can look forward to catching during inshore fishing include Roosterfish, Snapper, Snook, and Grouper, among many others. Roosterfish is abundant in almost every month. Because the floor of the Gulf drops away quickly, it takes almost no time at all to get to the perfect depth for inshore fishing, giving you more time to fish and less time travelling.

Offshore Fishing

Even though you’ll be fishing offshore, you won’t be leaving luxury behind; Osa Yacht Club’s top-of-the-line boats feature air-conditioned cabins, plush beds, and helpful, knowledgeable captains and crew. Sit back and relax as we transport you to the best offshore fishing spots in Costa Rica. On the days you fish offshore, you are likely to catch Sailfish, which are great fishing for over half the year, Marlin, Tuna, Dorado, and Wahoo. Sailfish are especially abundant from November to May; Marlin from November to December, March and April; and Tuna (specifically Yellowfin) in July, August, November, and December. Dorado are seen from January to May, but they really come out in force around November and December. Wahoo don’t generally have a peak season, and are seen year-round. It’s important to remember that even though some of these fish have “peak seasons,” they are almost always available to be caught year round.
Come experience the thrill of Costa Rican fishing for yourself with Osa Yacht Club.
